PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, the State Planning Commission shall conduct six public hearings for the purpose of receiving testimony on the draft Final New Jersey’s State Development and Redevelopment Plan and the draft Infrastructure Needs Assessment pursuant to the State Planning Act at N.J.S.A. 52:18A-202(c) as set forth in the State Planning Rules N.J.A.C. 15:30-5.2.
Additionally, under N.J.A.C. 15:30 -1.7 (c), municipalities and counties are required to post the attached notice on their website by August 29, 2025. The public hearings notice can also be found here or by clicking the link below:

Please check out our new Water Conservation Ordinance (ORD. 2025-09) posted on the township website under “Ordinances and Resolutions”. This ordinance supports the sustainability of our township and is a priority action item for our Sustainable Jersey Certification.

Community Garden Update May 2025
The Downe Township Community Garden located at the Fortescue Chapel provides fresh vegetables to township residents at no cost. The garden currently has the following vegetables available for harvesting:
RADISHES Pull entire plant out: leave greens in compost bin
KALE Snip off INDIVIDUAL leaves from lower shoots; DO NOT PULL PLANTS!
LETTUCE Snip or pinch off INDIVIDUAL leaves; DO NOT PULL PLANTS!
Later in the season TOMATOES, PEPPERS, CUCUMBERS, EGGPLANT and BUSH BEANS will be available.
We adhere to Environmentally Friendly Gardening Practices to include:
No synthetic pesticides
No synthetic herbicides
No synthetic fungicides
